Your students will see table match and hot text on FAST. Let them practice it first.
Reading practice for Florida grades 6–8, built on the B.E.S.T. standards. Students read passages on topics they pick, at a level they can handle.

FAST asks reading questions five ways
On FAST, students choose more than one answer, back up a choice with evidence, sort ideas into a table, and highlight the sentence that proves a point. TextTrek gives students practice with these formats before they see them on test day.
Practice that looks like the test, with help along the way
- Every benchmark FAST tests in reading, all 13 at each grade, in FAST’s question formats, including table match and hot text.
- Passages they want to finish. Students pick topics like sports, mysteries, animals, space and gaming, and passages are chosen around them.
- The right level of challenge. Practice gets easier when a student is struggling and harder when they’re ready, and keeps returning to the skills they need most.
- Help when they’re stuck. A hint is there before they answer, and every answer comes with a short explanation.
See who needs what before the next progress check
Your dashboard shows which of the 13 FAST reading benchmarks each student and class is missing, and which students need attention this week. Students sign in with their teacher’s last name, their class period, their own number and an easy-to-remember PIN.
Content you can stand behind, and no student names to protect
Every passage students see has been read and approved by a person. Each one is checked against Florida’s rules for what students can read, including s. 847.012, s. 1006.31 and the Parental Rights in Education law, before it goes live. No AI talks to your students.
TextTrek never asks for a real student name. Teachers create code names, and student data is never sold or used for advertising. Principals see benchmark mastery across the school, by grade.

Who’s behind TextTrek
I’m Thomas Roomy. I studied engineering at the University of Florida and MIT, and I’ve served on School Advisory Councils at Marion County schools since 2022. I was born and raised here and went through Marion County public schools. Today three of my children are in them, one in middle school.
At a School Advisory Council meeting, I heard our principal describe what students needed in reading, and what teachers wished their practice tools did: follow Florida’s B.E.S.T. standards, and ask questions the way FAST does. TextTrek is my answer, made here for Florida classrooms.
When you request a walkthrough, you talk with me, the person who built it.
